I traveled to Italy with Thea and other students to work in the village of Ghesc, near Domodossola north of Milan. The village dates back to the late 1300’s. Thea has been restoring parts of this village during workshops for the past 8 years in collaboration with Associazione Canova. We took down the gable end wall of the building, which is intended to be restored as a community center in the village, and built this double arch. The walls adjacent to the arches were rebuilt as dry-stacked double walls, and the arches used lime mortar.
